Mai's Speech

"My fellow women, good evening, and allow me to introduce myself. I am Mai 185 of the Blue Section, but more importantly, I am one of you. I see what you see every day and every work cycle and every week, and I hear what you have heard in secret; the rumors of a criminal plot against our Little Princess. Do not be alarmed though, because today, I am issuing a new edict that circumvents unity, loyalty and industriousness to introduce a new virtue to our city, our beautiful city. A virtue to speak your mind as you see fit, to not live in fear of Revenant, who have made you look like fools to lie to yourselves and say that our city is strong. Look around you though. Rampant decay, the cold, the fear of death in every corner, and we watch as our machines fall apart one by one, and you wonder to yourself how I can pronounce our city beautiful, and yet, you dare not speak a word of this out of fear. You were told not to, but why? Because the truth of the matter is, the Haspa knows full well of this situation, as you are aware, but rather than tending to the matter as they so frequently and adamantly promise to do, they merely turn a blind eye to what you see everyday while living in corpulent luxuriousness. Yet, every day you wake up, and do the duty you have sworn to do and leave the questions to be answered by the Haspa. Your strength in doing so is what makes this city of ours truly beautiful. Your devotion to loyalty and industriousness is more beautiful than any luxury in the world.

As you have heard so often, there are in fact, conspirators plotting against our Little Princess and our beautiful city, but who are they? Well, as they say, 'Learning is such that it is never-ending', so allow me be an educator to you today and continue your learning. As you may know, if you fail to tend to your duty, and your work station's malfunction results in the injury or death of one of your sisters, it is duly noted, and you are personally held responsible, are you not? You've seen people you've both loved and hated taken away to be arrested for this very reason, and you've seen people you've both loved and hated taken away to be arrested for speaking what is merely in their thoughts. Thoughts come into your head even more naturally than food makes it's way into your mouths, so it stands to reason that thoughts are more important to your body than food is, and yet, you are allowed to share food and not thoughts.

This is why, my sisters, there are criminals among us, and have broken every edict issued by our Dear Mother. If our Dear Mother were here with us today, she certainly would release them from their duties, because their work station is tending to our beautiful city itself, and every death and pain you have felt because its operational failure is a result of their apathy, their lack of loyalty and their lack of industriousness. They have commanded you to love one another, and to love them, but they do not love you. So if you are wondering why our Little Princess has not had them arrested, it is because they themselves are the conspirators against the Little Princess. Our sister Eden, was not a conspirator, traitor, or terrorist, but this was a deception of the Haspa in front of all of you to betray our Little Princess. Eden was a trusted friend and deeply loyal to our Little Princess, and yet, when she tried to warn you of this malignant conspiracy, as I am doing now, the Haspa ordered her to be immediately killed to stop her from warning you. How could the Haspa have done this to us? How could they have betrayed all of you, and myself, and our Little Princess, and our Dear Mother so painfully?

Of course, all the guilty involved will be punished for their crimes, but what then? The future of our city can be bright again! We can repair our machines, we can heal the cracks in this city's walls, and we can bring luxuries to every caste in our beautiful city. The Haspa have failed in their duty together, so I am taking it upon myself to serve our Little Princess and our beautiful city, inspiring to the vigorous dedication of our Dear Mother, as a new leader to watch over our Little Princess, and all of Athena. Revenant has already apprehended many of the Haspa traitors and their co-conspirators, and I have received the blessing of our Little Princess, so you can rejoice for the future that is to come! I promise you, just as the last 100 years have been filled with fear of being arrest or being labelled as a traitor, being cold, and being hungry, the next 100 years will be filled happiness for you, warmth and plenty to eat! Therefore, I hereby issue a command to join me, Lady Mai as the new leader of Athena, in working together to restore our city to a state of unmatched loveliness, and to uproot every last Haspa traitor who has dared to tread their feet on the name of our Dear Mother."
